Jonah Prison Ministry

Disciples Church seeks to reach those who are in prison with the good news of Christ.  There is true freedom to be found in Him.  We are supporting one of our members, Jonathan Carmen, as a missionary to the prisons. See below for more information on Jonathan and his heart for this ministry.

Introduction
My mission is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who are serving time in jails and prison. I’d like to provide leadership training for new believers in Christ. I believe no life is beyond the reach of Gods power, and I envision a future in which countless prisoners, ex prisoners, and their families are redeemed, restored, and reconciled through the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

Mission
To provide Bibles, printed spiritual materials for inmates, Bible correspondence courses, and more, all free of charge. Ultimately, I hope to reach men and with the help of the Holy Spirit, transform them through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ministry Lead: Jonathan Carman
I’ve been transformed by the love of Jesus. My mission in life is to help and serve men in recovery. My vision is to provide those in prison with the tools to change their direction and way of thinking. Leading them to Gods truth is the foundation to recovery and transformation. It’s the truth that changes lives! Jonathan has a beautiful wife, 6 children, and 5 grandchildren.

How This Ministry Came About
Approximately ten years ago the real estate investments company I worked for was caught misappropriating funds and conducting unlawful transactions. Because of my position in the company, I was convicted of criminal charges and sentenced Starting November 2015, I will be serving a five year prison term. The last ten years have been spent serving the Lord and dedicating everything I have to setting the captives free. I have served faithfully at Crossline Church for approximately 7 years and oversaw the Celebrate Recovery (CR) ministry. My greatest gift back to the Lord has been to use my life to help transform the lives of hundreds of men and women for God’s glory. I believe the Lord has trained me for the time such as this. My desire is to continue on this path and minister to the men I will be serving with.

I Need Your Support
I’m seeking to partner and collaborate with individuals who have a heart to serve and change the life of those behind bars. I need support on many levels. Currently I am forming an advisory and leadership board who will help ensure we keep the mission and vision in the forefront of all we do. If you or anyone you know would like to become involved in this ministry, please complete the information on the Contact page at www. disciplesOC.com or message me on Facebook Prison Ministry.
